Before our scheduled 6-way meetings, you will each meet with your respective Collaborative attorneys as needed to talk about your interests and goal as well as your concerns about the unfolding Collaborative divorce process. You and your attorney will review the preliminary divorce financial report and supporting documentation in detail and will review the preliminary parenting plan prepared by the neutral coach. Your attorney will explain to you what the laws says and doesn’t say and that, in Collaboration, the law informs your decisions but you not bound by it; you and your spouse may decide how best to transition your family.

Your attorney may want the neutral financial mediator present during this meeting to explain the financial report in detail and to perform “what happens if” analyses which often help you and your attorney better understand the impact of the financial decisions you will be making in the upcoming 6-way meetings. Similarly, your Collaborative attorney may want the neutral coach present to communicate details of the parenting plan.
